Abstract
The article summarizes the basic information about the biography and scientific activities of Turkologist M. Z. Ulakov (1951), including his expeditions and publications devoted to Karachay-Balkarian culture. The significance of the scientist's legacy in the formation of the research and personal culture of contemporaries is revealed.
The purpose of the article is to indicate the contribution of a scientist and provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of his scientific activities.
The materials show the formation and development of a scientific biography, the role of a scientist in the Russian history of Turkology and the culture of the Karachay-Balkarian people.
