Abstract

This article is the first attempt to summarize the experience of teaching philological culture of normative texts in the 4th year of the Bachelor's programme for students of Philology. The necessity of this research is determined by the "young age" of this course and the absence of special textbooks and methodological aids. Meanwhile it is one of the important disciplines, which purpose is to generalize and systematize the knowledge received by students earlier, to equip them with abilities and skills to extract the necessary official and business information from different sources, to edit and draw up various business documents, and to show the opportunities of application of philological knowledge, abilities and skills in practical activities.

At Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University philological culture of normative texts has been taught since 2019. Students of philology show an unfailing interest in this discipline and actively participate in all types of work offered by the teacher. It seems that it is already possible to sum up some preliminary results and to share our findings with the professional community.

The aim of the article is to outline the range of problems related to teaching philological culture of normative texts and to show possible ways of solving them. To achieve this aim it is necessary to characterise the place of this discipline among other philological disciplines, to give an overview of the textbooks and manuals used by the author while developing lectures and practical classes, and to demonstrate the tasks and exercises which have been successfully applied in the teaching process. The results of the research are expected to be of use for the fellow philologists who teach culture of normative texts, and contribute to the further improvement of the teaching of this discipline.
