The issue under consideration is important because computer, information and communication technologies are rapidly developing at present, leading to the appearance and quick spread of brand new texts – hypertexts. As result it becomes necessary for the system of higher education to prepare students who can function in modern information-oriented society as its full-fledged members. It implies being able to work online with internet resources which is impossible if a person is not familiar with hyper reading strategies. At the same time it is a fact that the problem of teaching hyper reading to university undergraduates has received scant attention in pedagogical theory so far. Its consequence is a lack of flexible techniques and technologies of teaching hyper reading in practice. So this research aims to develop a pedagogical technology which enables the formation of hyper-reading competences in university undergraduates while studying a foreign language. It is necessary to fulfill the following tasks to achieve this goal: to determine peculiarities of hyper reading as one of the reading strategies performed in the course of communication; to determine the structure of the pedagogical technology; to concretise its separate components and their contents. The set goal determined the main research methods such as analysis of scientific literature and pedagogical modelling. The conducted research resulted in the creation of a pedagogical technology of teaching hyper reading to university undergraduates. It consists of a scientific block, which includes philosophical fundamentals, methodological approaches, objective laws and basic terms; a descriptive block, which includes the goal, principles and methods; a procedural activity block, which includes goal-setting, planning, organising, implementing and analysing.
