The article analyzes the morphosemantics of the lexemes pokajanie (penance) and raskajanie (remorse). Objective: to establish the originality morphosemantic fields tokens of penance and remorse, and to reveal the deep semantics of lexemes in the creativity of F. M. Dostoyevsky. In the semasiological characterization of lexemes, the method of semantic comparison is used, as well as the descriptive-analytical method in the study of the literary heritage of F. M. Dostoevsky.
The study allows us to establish semantic similarity in the meaning of "regret about what happened" and the difference between the tokens chosen for analysis. To repent, it is enough to look at the act from a different point of view. Without the desire to correct the situation, remorse leads to a dead end. Repentance begins with an adequate self-assessment, requires a firm determination to correct, and is a reconciliation with conscience. The lexemes penance and remorse in the works of F. M. Dostoevsky are synonymous in the meaning of regret for what happened, to suffer some work to make amends. They differ in the fact that repentance can also have a negative connotation, while repentance can only have a positive connotation.
The results of the research can be used in the study of not only creativity, but also philosophy, as well as the idiostyle of F. M. Dostoevsky in the modern school; when considering the problems of the author's works in the context of modern social problems; when reading basic and special courses of historical, linguistic and cultural orientation.
The relevance of the topic is confirmed by the versatility of the cultural value of the object of research and is due to the introduction of new factual material into scientific circulation. The novelty of this approach is due to the lack of special research on the chosen topic, as well as the combination of advantages of philological reading of classical texts.
