Abstract
In 2024, it was detected that the popularity of fiction by foreign authors increased again, as a result the labor market demand for translators with experience in the field of literary translation and willing to work in publishing houses enhanced. The article analyzes the experience of interaction between several translators and publishing houses, and also provides an interview with the founder and translator of the publishing house Pollen Fanzine. The impact of cooperation between a translator and a publishing house that it has on the literary process has been studied, and the conclusion that a book is a joint product of their work has been made. The research also presents the results of the analysis of the interaction between translators and publishing houses, which confirmed that successful cooperation begins at the preparation stage and continues at the editorial and production stages. The education of the translator and the publisher plays a key role in the creation of a proficient work. Mutual understanding between the editor and the translator determines the success of editorial edits, and proofreading and promotion of the book become important stages. A translator with a deep knowledge of the language and culture can effectively present a book to the public, which leads to the conclusion that his/her participation in the publishing house's advertising campaigns improves the results and contributes to a deeper understanding of the book by readers, which demonstrates the importance of the translator at all stages of book publishing. The article provides examples of cooperation between a translator and a publishing house, which have both a positive and negative impact on the quality of the final product. The conclusion states that a good result can only be achieved through joint work between the translator and the publishing house.
