Abstract
This article deals with the potential of competitive activities in modern children's city libraries in designing individual educational trajectories for schoolchildren. It analyzes the role of libraries in contemporary society and examines the functions and tasks of these cultural institutions, as well as the evolving image of a modern librarian. The paper substantiates the relevance of expanding the functions and responsibilities of cultural institutions, specifically children's city libraries, in today's world. The article explains the concept of “individual educational trajectories” and emphasizes the importance of designing such trajectories for schoolchildren. It highlights the collaboration between modern children's city libraries and educational organizations, such as schools, lyceums, and gymnasiums. Moreover, the paper addresses the significance of the role that children's city libraries play in the socialization and education of students in these institutions. The competitive activities of contemporary children's city libraries are explored using the examples of contests organized by Children's Library Branch No. 6 in the city of Magnitogorsk. The article analyzes the importance of these contests in the socialization, upbringing, and education of schoolchildren, as well as in designing their individual educational trajectories. Examples of such library contests include the “From Old Things to a Feathered Flock” craft contest using recyclable materials, the drawing contest based on I. A. Krylov’s fables titled “And the Box Just Opened,” the “Magic Chest” drawing contest, and an essay contest on “My Favorite Book.” The article concludes by noting the creative orientation of the contests held by children's city libraries and the potential of these competitive activities in designing individual educational trajectories for schoolchildren.
