Abstract
In article functions of irony in novels by Dostoyevsky "Demons" and "The Adolescent" are designated. The author's irony, irony of the reporter and also irony and self-irony of characters are the focus of attention. The functional dependence of irony on the genre nature of the narration comes to light. Changes in the status of the subject and an object of irony from the novel to the novel are traced.
In article functions of irony in novels by F.M. Dostoyevsky, first of all – in "Demons" and "The Adolescent" are estimated. The author's irony, irony of the narrator and also irony and self-irony of characters are the focus of attention. Also the functional dependence of irony on the genre nature of the narration comes to light. Changes in the status of the subject and an object of irony from the novel to the novel are traced. Concentration of irony in the novel "Demons" is much higher, than in other novels by F. M. Dostoyevsky at the expense of a combination of irony and self-irony of the storyteller and characters and the author's irony characteristic of a genre of the political pamphlet. In the following novel confession "The Adolescent" against the background of fading of irony of the storyteller, the role of irony and Versilov's self-irony increases. In "The Brothers Karamazov", owing to features of the genre nature of the work, there is a return to a more balanced distribution of irony between the reporter and characters.
