Abstract

Video poetry is a metatextual mythopoetic system possessing a single internal plot – the connection between poetry and cinema is expressed by a single motive (in terms of plot boundaries) and mythologemic (in terms of spatial and temporal characteristics) complexes, a common line of narrative beginning. This study shows that our approach is promising not only for the analysis of poetry, but also for video poetry in general as a promising visual genre. We have identified the patterns of images associated with video poetry that do not depend entirely on the conscious aspirations of the viewer and the author, but are generated by the logic of mythopoetics, traceable through the visual, linguistic and textual. Poetics for us became a link that unites the logic of both aesthetic and ethical principles of a specific video-poetic creation. The significance of our work lies in the analysis of the application of the basic concepts of mythopoetics as a method of research sphere – we have identified the basic components, presenting secondary mythologization as one of the productive processes in video poetry, which allows applying this method to the entire video poetic creation. The images of mythology create many associations in the mind of the perceiving subject, but for all the variability of myths, the ability to isolate them persists to this day. Modern poets use the system of mythopoetic forms more often than not unconsciously, bringing their own, thus creating new philological strategies in the writing of the artistic text. Stressing the importance of the phenomenon, as one of the possible tools for the analysis of literary and not only literary works, we propose to use mythopoetic approach.
