Abstract

The author focuses on the problem of reading literacy, which is considered as a person's ability to understand and use texts in their activities, to reflect on them and engage in reading in order to achieve their goals, to expand their knowledge and capabilities, to participate in social life. Reader's literacy is also presented in the article as one of the key competencies of a modern dynamic personality who is able to master new knowledge, to think freely and creatively.

The Russian native language in a modern school, as shown in the article, is a subject focused on fostering respect for the Russian language. The course expands the understanding of the Russian language picture of the world. That is why these lessons have the opportunity to purposefully and methodically develop students' reading literacy. A variety of techniques can be used to develop reading literacy. There are several techniques to which attention is drawn in the article: working with a word from the point of view of vocabulary and etymology; searching for the necessary information in dictionaries, both paper and electronic; tasks aimed at the development of thoughtfulness for a word. It is noted that it is necessary to develop methodological materials on the example of PISA tasks to identify the level of reading literacy of schoolchildren. When creating such tasks, it is necessary to choose a text, think over a system of test questions for it. The article notes that several types of questions should be presented in such tasks: the ability to find information in the text, the ability to interpret the text; open and closed questions; basic and advanced level.
