Abstract
The aim of the article is to study the specifics of representation and transformation of female archetypal images in contemporary video poetry, as well as their influence on the interpretation of primary source texts. The material for the study was the clips presented at the international festival-competition "Videostikhiya" in 2023. The archetypal in female images is considered with the help of mythopoetic and hermeneutic methods with the involvement of the theory of archetypes developed by C.G. Jung's analytical psychology.
Four main images embodying the transformation of the Anima archetype are actively used in video-visual poetry: Eve, Queen/Helena, Virgin Mary, Sophia the Wisdom of God. The archetypal image of the Anima appearing in the poem-clips becomes a means of self-identification and self-realisation of the video poet – the author of the clip. At the same time, the poet's "personal" and individual experience undergoes a transformation from personal to archetypal at the moment of the video poet's interpretation of a classical poem, and sometimes the archetypal begins to be realised as personal. The archetypal origin manifested in female images of video poetry allows the video poet not only to convey his or her own interpretation of the classical poem taken as the basis of the poem-clip (if the video poet and the poet are not the same person), but also, using the numinous power of the archetype, to influence the viewer's/reader's personality, their perception of themselves, the world, and poetry. The paradox of the situation is that, falling under the influence of the archetype, the video poet "risks" becoming congenial to the poet.
