Abstract
The article covers International Slavicist Congress which was held in Belgrade in August 2018. Particular attention is paid to the key features of this scientific event which determine its special character. It is shown that the congress was of great interest not only to scientific community but also to a wide audience. It is pointed out that the major problems discussed at the congress were the development of Slavic languages, literatures, cultures and their interaction. The dialogue between linguists, literary critics and culture experts contributed to a new understanding and opening of excellent prospects for Slavic studies.
