Abstract
The subject of this research is to understand the approaches to creating an electronic lexicographic product for foreign students, which is designed for their independent use and provides motivated vocabulary acquisition without the involvement of a teacher.
The aim of the research is to outline the rational macro- and micro-structure of a basic vocabulary for foreign students. The structure is the result of the student project «A student understands a student better». The project is being developed at the Southern Federal University.
The main research methods are structural-logical, definitional, lexicographical methods, the method of analysis of lexical-thematic groups, the linguodidactic method.
The main results of the research are four principles, which seem to be relevant for the development of the macro- and micro-structure of the vocabulary of the mentioned type: 1) correlation of the vocabulary with the level of the foreign students, which should not only ensure the adequacy of the list of the studied lexical units, but also help the target audience to understand the meaning of the units being studied; 2) thematic parsing, which should help systematize the studied material in the foreigners' mind; 3) minimization of the contents of the lexicon in the foreigners' dictionaries, which helps maintain the students’ interest and does not cause excessive tiredness while perceiving the material; 4) the polycode presentation of the material in the microstructure of the dictionary: interpretation should be carried out not only in verbal (graphic and auditory), but also in visual form.
The novelty of the research lies in the treatment of a multimedia lexicographic source as a bifunctional educational tool. On the one hand, it is designed to be introduced in the educational process of foreign students, and on the other hand, it helps the participants of the project to master the theory of lexicography and acquire skills and abilities to develop lexicographic products.
The practical significance of the work is seen in the possibility of using it in lexicographic practice and in classes in the modern Russian language for Russian-speaking students of Philology.
