Abstract

The content of the article consists of the results of the reconstruction of the ethical concepts of "Pain" and "Love" as fragments of an individual picture of the world. The linguistic material for the reconstruction was the lyrics of the rock band "Nerves" written in Russian. The phenomenon of Russian rock lies in its confessional nature, by the end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century, rock poetry in Russia becomes a platform for expressing a unique picture of the world, representing a system of ethical, aesthetic and philosophical concepts, which makes rock poetry an object of cognitive-discursive linguistics. The subject of the study is a set of words and word combinations that are functionally related to the explication of personal concepts in the texts. The universality of the concepts chosen for reconstruction gives the authors of the article an opportunity to reveal the uniqueness of conceptual structures in the course of analysis. The authors refer ambivalence, on the one hand, and inseparable unity, on the other, to the specific characteristics of the reconstructed concepts. The bipolar concept of "Pain – Love" revealed during the reconstruction, quite predictably, correlates with the concept of "Life – Death", which has a similar structure, in the individual picture of the world. The analysis of the lexical structure of the lyrics revealed a unique set of means of explication of conceptual structures: in search of non-banal means of self-expression, the authors of the texts create new images on a traditional basis, packaging them into metaphorical models determined by national culture. These models display originality.
